Poetry Alive!

Performers bring poetry to life by using poetry performance techniques which empower educators to improve student literacy.  Poetry Alive! helps students to self-actualize improvement in reading and writing.

First Settler’s Day

Join us for a visit under the Grand Old Oak to participate in a hands-on history festival which re-creates the first encounters between settlers and Native Americans of our Chesapeake Bay region.

Making Sense

(EC — 9, 10, and 11 am programs, Gym)

January 11th
The Science Place will present this interactive program which will allow our young children to uncover the facts about the amazing science of our senses. Find out how the senses work together through game play. A scientist will work with small groups to explore the five senses and encourage the desire “to find out.”

Under African Skies

(EC and LS — 9:30am, Gym: MS — 1030 am, Gym)

February 5th
Join world class storyteller Antonio Rocha, as he journeys to Africa through amazing sound effects, poetic movements, and an array of characters you will never forget. Rocha’s stories promote courage, respect, and responsibility and reflect the heart and soul of Africa.

The Frog Prince

(EC, 1st and 2nd grades — 9:30 am, Gym)

March 14th
Theatre IV presents a wonderful production of this classic folk story from the Brothers Grimm. This colorful and funny adaptation showcases an amphibian ensemble and acclaimed puppet masters while encouraging the value of friendship.

Dance around The World

(EC and LS — 9:30am, Gym: MS — 10:30 am, Gym)

April 23rd
Dance troupe, Ramzi and Company, bring a dynamic display of expressive movements, powerful rhythms, and rich costumes in which dance becomes the focal point in a celebration of world cultures.
