2015 Five-Star Luxury South African Odyssey for Two!

South Africa is often called "A World in One Country." What it has to offer visitors in terms of sheer beauty and diversity of scenery and people invites superlatives. This 9-night trip will show 2 lucky winners the highlights, the crème-de-la-crème, of this jewel in Africa's crown. From the Cape winelands to wildlife, from beaches to The Big Five, from whale-watching to shark-diving, the only common thread running through this exceptional trip is unstinting luxury from start to finish.

Beginning in Cape Town, the winners will stay at the magnificent 5-star Table Bay Hotel, overlooking the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront-a vibrant, working harbor with chic boutiques and restaurants. Two days are not enough time to enjoy the wealth of options South Africa's "Mother City" has to offer. With a private driver on call, choose from a scenic tour of the peninsula, day trip to some of the region's best vineyards, or leisurely strolls along the world-famous Cape beaches.

Just a couple of hours from Cape Town lies Grootbos Private Nature Reserve-a peaceful oceanside haven that promises "Flora, Fauna & Five Stars." This award-winning lodge effortlessly blends top-notch accommodation and cuisine with the chance to unwind in one of the Cape's most beautiful natural settings. See magnificent whales and great white sharks up close, take a walk with a trained botanist, go horseback riding along the coast, or simply kick back on an unspoiled beach. Two days will fly by.

All Aboard! The next step is a memorable excursion on Rovos Rail-known simply as "The Most Luxurious Train in the World." On this beautifully restored Victorian train, the key word is "service" and the two days spent aboard are all about the journey-not just the destination. Rovos Rail combines the opulence of pre-war travel with subtle modern innovations. Eat, drink and relax in extravagant elegance as the train moves northward through the country.

After one night at the five-star Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg, the winners will fly to South Africa's Mpumalanga Province, home to the country's big game reserves. The prize includes two nights at Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, a magical place bordering the Kruger National Park that consistently wins top awards with travel magazines and organizations. Bush Lodge offers gloriously furnished suites, wonderful cuisine and a top-notch ranger/tracker team trained to show guests what the African bushveld has to offer. Prepare to be amazed by everything from the famous "Big Five" of Africa-lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and the elusive leopard-to the smallest insects and birdlife.

A whirlwind trip of South Africa's highlights can only whet the appetite...

Worth noting:

* Extra days at any of the hotels/reserves can certainly be arranged (if there's space available) as can add-ons to Victoria Falls (Zambia) or Botswana-to name just a couple of examples.

* Footprints Africa will work with the winners to set up the entire trip and to ensure that everything runs smoothly once in South Africa. Our in-country operators mean travelers feel secure.

* Our suppliers have requested that travel be completed before the Christmas high season.

* International airfare is NOT included in this prize.

2020 Head of School for a Day

Do you or your child wonder what a Head of School does all day? Purchase this gift for your currently enrolled Chesapeake Academy student and find out. The winner of this gift will have the opportunity to make a decision about the dress code for the day, ring the 8:30 a.m. bell, visit all classes, host student meetings, lead a faculty meeting, and give out candy from the big candy jar. There will be some important deposits to make at the bank so you will ride with Mrs. Cook in the little red "beetle." You will also be allowed to add an extra all-school recess! While your friends and classmates look on, a private Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter will land on the soccer field to pick you up! After all, the Head of School is very important and you will be whisked away to attend a working lunch with Mrs. Cook and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Mihills. You will enjoy a scenic, 15 minute flight over the waters of the beautiful Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay, landing on historic Tangier Island. You will be picked up in a golf cart and driven to a local restaurant for your "power" lunch where you will discuss significant Chesapeake Academy happenings. Return to your private aircraft for the trip back to Chesapeake Academy but make sure you don't forget your camera. You will fly over your own house so that you can take an aerial shot of where you live! Land back on campus in time for regular dismissal. This special day must occur between May 5 and June 6 (your classmates won't be able to enjoy seeing you off if you don't go when school is in session) and after school begins again in September until the end of September 2008 (many restaurants in Tangier close for the season during the fall and winter months).
